Single Recruiter or Multiple Recruiters?
Whilst on the surface engaging with multiple Recruiters in the belief that the more people you have searching for suitable Candidates to fill your vacancy seems the right path, in fact it will have a negative impact.
Briefing numerous Recruiters is very time consuming and results in a ‘free for all’ where CV’s will be submitted without Candidates being contacted to discuss the vacancy in depth as Recruiters will attempt to submit CV’s before anyone else, hoping that if their Candidate is selected they will then be able to coerce the Candidate into attending an interview, this often leads to interview schedules collapsing as Candidates are either not interested in the vacancy, have found a new opportunity or not seeking a new role.
Candidates often comment that they have declined consideration for a vacancy as they have been contacted by numerous Recruiters for the same vacancy, all of whom just want to box tick and submit their CV without taking time to fully discuss the role along with how it aligns with their career aspirations, leading them to believe the Employer is either desperate to find someone or not a good Employer as so many Recruiters are trying to fill the vacancy.
The major pitfalls of engaging multiple Recruiters are that you will be inundated with CV’s for consideration, the vast majority of which will be in no way suitable for your vacancy as Recruiters attempt to be ‘first past the post’ resulting in you spending a great deal of time reviewing and rejecting CV’s that do not meet your requirements.
