As the UK’s leading Construction Products Recruiter, we are delighted to share the opportunity for an Area Sales Manager with experience in building and nurturing relationships within the Builders’ Merchants sector to join a rapidly growing supplier of building and landscaping products.

Our Client is a premium supplier of sustainable outdoor building and landscaping materials including fencing, decking, cladding and accessories.

Their products are trusted by Trade Professionals, Home Owners and Landscapers across the UK and they are fast becoming one of the UK and Europe’s leading brands in landscaping.

This is a unique opportunity to join a company whose products are held in high regard at an exciting stage in their development in the UK construction sector.

Our client is seeking a dynamic individual to join their sales team as a result of an increase in demand for their products. If you have experience in developing relationships with National and Independent Builders’ Merchants across the Midlands and North, this opportunity could be for you.

 

The Role

The Area Sales Manager focuses on securing orders for products by meeting and influencing targeted customer groups that include; Builder’s Merchants (National and Independent) and Buying Groups.

Your daily responsibilities will involve managing a designated sales territory and ensuring that the area achieves its budget and associated gross margins by maintaining and expanding the customer base.

 

Key Responsibilities of the role

  • Proactively develop new Merchant and stockist accounts
  • Perform sales forecasting, planning, and budgeting processes for the assigned territory
  • Proactively identify opportunities for sales improvement
  • Allocate a significant portion of your time to visiting individual accounts and ensuring customer satisfaction
  • Build and maintain relationships with customers to expand and retain the customer base
  • Attend industry events as required
  • Stay updated on current market and industry trends, competitor activity, and leading customer strategies
  • Contribute to the development of strategic plans to ensure revenue growth in all company products
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and maintaining personal networks
  • Adhere to the Company’s policies and ethical practices in all work undertaken
  • Utilise strong attention to detail to remain calm in the face of challenges and effectively assist customers
  • Always deliver outstanding customer service
  • Perform any other ad hoc duties that may arise

 

Essential Skills and Experience Required

  • Proven experience in external construction products sales
  • Strong customer service experience
  • Previous experience selling to Builders’ Merchants and negotiating supply agreements
  • Previous experience as a Key Account Manager, Regional Sales OR External Sales Representative, Business Development Manager or similar
  • Ability to confidently communicate over the phone and face to face
  • Outstanding listening and verbal communication skills, with the ability to identify customer issues or requests.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Motivated and driven to meet goals and targets.
  • Good working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Packages.
