If you are not already a LinkedIn member it is a recommended you join, LinkedIn is now the ‘go to’ social media site for professionals and offers you the chance to build your contact network with industry peers, stay abreast of latest industry news and join LinkedIn Groups which are focussed on individuals such as yourself.

It is important on LinkedIn that you are seen to contribute to the platform by commenting on posts, posting informative content, joining in discussions and growing your network as this will enhance your overall profile.

As with all Social Media you should be aware that prospective Employers could well view your profile on LinkedIn along with other Social Media sites, therefore be careful about what comments etc made by yourself are visible, you should also ensure that your work history should match up with your CV as any discrepancies will be picked up by a prospective Employer.

It is important that you identify the sector that you are seeking to further develop your career in, whether it be Construction, Specialist Services, Manufacturing, Distribution or Merchanting.

Having decided on the sector you are focusing on carry out research on Employers within that sector to gain valuable information that will assist you in focussing your search
