This is a unique opportunity to join a company whose products are held in high regard at an exciting stage in their development in the UK construction sector.

Our client is seeking a dynamic individual to join their sales team as a result of an increase in demand for their products. If you have experience in developing relationships with Merchants, House Builders and Contractors this role is for you.


The Role

The Area Sales Manager focuses on securing orders for products by meeting and influencing targeted customer groups that include; groundworkers, tier 1 contractors, housebuilders, Builder’s Merchants (National and Independent) and Buying Groups.

Your daily responsibilities will involve managing a designated sales territory and ensuring that the area achieves its budget and associated gross margins by maintaining and expanding the customer base.



Key Responsibilities of the role

  • Perform sales forecasting, planning, and budgeting processes for the assigned territory.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for sales process improvement.
  • Utilise the Salesforce system on a daily basis to maintain effective customer information.
  • Allocate a significant portion of your time to visiting individual accounts and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Build and maintain relationships with customers to expand and retain the customer base.
  • Attend industry events as required.
  • Stay updated on current market and industry trends, competitor activity, and leading customer strategies.
  • Contribute to the development of strategic plans to ensure revenue growth in all company products.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and maintaining personal networks.
  • Adhere to the Company’s policies and ethical practices in all work undertaken.
  • Communicate effectively with external Area Sales Managers and Branch Managers regarding training days.
  • Utilise strong attention to detail to remain calm in the face of challenges and effectively assist customers.
  • Always deliver outstanding customer service.
  • Perform any other ad hoc duties that may arise.


Essential Skills and Experience Required

  • Proven experience in external sales.
  • Strong customer service experience.
  • Previous experience in the building industry
  • Ability to confidently communicate over the phone and face to face.
  • Outstanding listening and verbal communication skills, with the ability to identify customer issues or requests.
  • Proficient in dispute resolution and problem-solving.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team player with a positive attitude towards new and existing challenges.
  • Motivated and driven to meet goals and targets.
  • Good working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Packages.
