Vacancy Description

Are you an experienced geo-environmental specialist ready to step into a leadership role?

Our client is seeking a proactive and commercially minded Head of Geo-Environmental to take charge of their established but growing department. This is a key management position where you’ll be responsible for delivering a wide range of services — including ground investigations, waste assessments, and geo-environmental testing — while developing your team and helping shape the future of the business.

What the role involves:

  • Managing day-to-day operations across both lab and site-based services
  • Leading and developing a technical team with a supportive, hands-on management style
  • Monitoring budgets, analysing KPIs, and ensuring profitable performance
  • Preparing and reviewing reports to ensure high technical and quality standards
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships
  • Contributing to business growth and strategic direction, including client development and proposal writing
  • Ensuring compliance with UKAS, ISO 17025, internal quality standards, and all relevant health & safety policies.

What they’re looking for

  • Solid experience in ground investigation, contaminated land, waste classification, and geo-environmental testing
  • A degree in Geology, Environmental Chemistry, or a related field (preferred)
  • A strong understanding of health and safety procedures, including RAMS and PPE use
  • Proven leadership skills with a collaborative, forward-thinking mindset
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills
  • Willingness to travel occasionally and stay overnight when needed
  • A full UK driving licence

What’s on offer:

  • Hybrid working (3 days office / 2 days remote)
  • 25 days annual leave + bank holidays, with the option to buy extra days and increased entitlement with length of service
  • Enhanced family leave (6 months full pay for maternity/adoption/shared parental, 2 weeks full paternity pay)
  • Annual bonus scheme and regular salary reviews
  • Enhanced pension contributions
  • Life assurance (4x salary)
  • Access to EAP, 24/7 GP support, and eye care vouchers
  • Cycle to Work scheme and a branded welcome pack
  • Milestone recognition, from sabbaticals to personal gifts and charity donations

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to take the next step in their career with a forward-thinking and supportive organisation
